I wrote another chapter for my book a couple of months ago. The topic, “a quest for a heart” was supposed to be part of a chapter using the quests in “The Wizard of Oz” to discuss common quests we all find ourselves on. But, this one ended up coming out to chapter length all on it’s own. And, personally, I think it could even use more. But, when I get to editing, we’ll see what happens.
I wasn’t planning on posting this one. But, yesterday, I saw this video. It’s about a girl who, despite not being homeless or needy, panhandling. She has a very well rehearsed lie that she told to get money from people, and the journalist reporting estimated she was bringing in $50.00 and hour.
It’s the kind of story that can make the most caring person cynical, and it tapped into a cynicism that I have personally struggled with. Thus, this chapter chronicles my journey through that cynicism.
Again, it’s an unedited, unfinished product. Feedback is of course appreciated.
