who am i?

This is a post from my old blog (march 2005).  It says a bit about me, and my biases.  I am making some changes, so they will be noted.

Who I am

I think thunderstorms are awesome.
I think summer is the best season of the year.
I think Chick-Fil-A is the best fast food resturaunt ever.
I don’t miss very many Kentucky games.
I think Kentucky is the best of the 50 states.
I might live overseas someday, but I’m not sure yet.
I think my brother is the coolest guy I know.
I never turn down a hug (thanks to Brack’s advice).
I walk to clear my mind, I play piano to clear my soul.
I play guitar to get chicks (and NO, it really doesn’t work.)
I only like coffee about twice a year.  UPDATED 4-22-08:  I drink coffee several times a week.
I think Cherry Coke is the best drink ever invented.
I just want to be alone sometimes.
I can’t stand being alone sometimes.
I think I could be a pretty good writer, if I wasn’t so lazy.
I have trouble putting words and music together, but I can usually write one or the other.
I think the Baroque and Classic Rock eras were the golden ages of music.
I think “The Critic” was underrated.
I think U2 is overrated.
I think Peter Gallagher’s eyebrows are one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
I am generally an optimist.
I fear rejection above all other things.
I lean somewhat liberal politically, but I don’t think the Democratic party has a clue right now.  Updated 4-23-08:  I think neither party has a clue right now.
I bowl anywhere between 50 and 150 (and last night was closer to 50).
I think Brahm’s Requiem is the most brilliant composition ever.
I think the violin and the piano are the two most beautiful instruments.
I have a great sense of direction.
I have a brilliant long term memory.
I have a horrible short term memory.
I think DC Comics ruined Mad Magazine.
I’m not down with the DC Talk.
I don’t like worship CD’s, yet 90 percent of my CD collection is worship.
I feel I’ve done a pretty good job of avoiding Christian pop culture.
I don’t acknowledge that Michael Bolton even exists.
I think the Sandlot is the best movie ever.
I wish I had Michael “Squints” Palladorious’ skills with the ladies.
I don’t think I’ll ever be good at the whole “dating” thing.
I love biscuits and gravy.
I think Weird Al is a genius.
I don’t want to be rich.
I kind of want to be famous.
I’m convinced that July 31 WILL be a national holiday someday.
I know I have an odd sense of humor, but I enjoy it.

  1. Oh that was fun! I have a few of those - every couple years I write a new “blog” about who I am. Hysterical to go back and re-read it!

Brahms is awesome. But Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto is very arguable the best composition ever. Followed in a close second by Mahler’s 2nd symphony. :)

  2. I love this post. Its amazing how much of this could be about me. Weird. I totally agree with you about Chick-fil-A, Cherry Coke, biscuits and gravy, and bowling. I bowled the best game of my life (I think) the first (and only) time I played WII bowling. I will never play it again for fear of never getting that good of a score again.

  3. I also think “The Critic” was underrated.
